When reading with your child, consider using the PEER strategy as a way to be very engaged with you child in order to practice language. PEER is an acronym representing the following:
P = Prompt (ask a question)
E = Evaluate (think about what the child said)
E = Expand (add to child's response)
R = Repeat (ask child to repeat)
